Hey There Fellow Music Heads,
Its my last official post of 2012.....What better way to end a year than to close it out with a BANG! and some good music of course....Here are my picks for this week....If you don't already know these tunes, I challenge you to check them out, and open up your ears to something new....
Alot of folks don't remember Joe Jackson like that....No I'm not talking about Michael's father...But, Joe Jackson, the singer; who was an artist that was very different for his time. What I always liked about him is that he didn't, nor did he try to sound like anyone else....So maybe he wasn't the strongest vocalist, but that's part of what made his sound uniquely his own. This cut is off his 1982 album, Night and Day.
Am I the only person who seems to remember Level 42? They were actually quite popular in the mid-80's. Well, even if you don't, I'm sure you'll remember this tune from their 1985 album, World Machine.
Undoubtedly, one of the more underrated artists of her time. The intense interpretive dance routines all throughout this video make it so powerful, yet so beautiful at the same time. I could easily watch this over and over again. This is taken from her 1985 album, Hounds of Love.
Another artist who was underrated for her time. This woman has so many accolades throughout the music industry over the last 30 years or so, that it's hard to name them all. As a solo artist, she is known for a certain few hits. As a musician, and musical director is a whole other story. This is taken from her 1994 album, Anything But Ordinary.
Still kicking myself that I am just now starting to discover the beauty of Tori Amos' music. I had heard of her when I was younger, but never really bothered to listen to her like that. The first time I heard this song, I immediately fell in love with it. This is from Tori's 1992 debut album, Little Earthquakes.
