Tanya's Picks- Dec 17th

Hello Fellow Music Heads....We're starting a new segment to be featured every week, called "Tanya's Picks." Here at Harmonious Flame, we're all about introducing our readers to music that they wouldn't ordinarily listen to or find anywhere else...So sit back, relax, and open up your ears to a Musical Voyage through Time and Sound...

This may sound like James Taylor, but it's not...His name is actually Mac McAnally, and this song "Minimum Love" was off his 1983 album, "Nothing But The Truth."

Remember Caron Wheeler, from the group "Soul II Soul?" By far, one of the more underrated voices of her time. This track, "Somewhere" is off her 1990 debut album, "UK Blak." This song really showcases her depth, as it is her alone on this track- doing both lead vocal and all harmonies.

Jazz Pianist, Mccoy Tyner does his rendition of the standard "The Look of Love" from his 1997 album, "The Music of Burt Bacharach."

Jazz Saxophonist, Tom Scott takes Jefferson Airplane's "Today" and makes it all his own on this 1967 cut. And listen at 1:38, and see if you Hip-Hop heads recognize the sample...

My mom had this album when it was new, which made me garner an appreciation for Spyro Gyra when I was all of 3 years old. This is from their 1986 album, Breakout..

Check back next Monday, 12/24 for more of Tanya's Picks....

Until Next Time.....
