Tanya's Picks- Jan 21st

Hey Everyone! Welcome Back To Tanya's Picks...Where Every Monday I Post 5 Tunes That Have Been In Constant Rotation On My iPod Over The Course Of The Week....Shall We Begin.....

Does Anyone Besides Myself Remember Tasmin Archer? This was a great tune that was ahead of its time, when it came out back in 1992. Listen to it....It's Pretty Deep.......

What?? This kid is ridiculously talented....Who thinks to put a Michael Jackson medley together in 6-part harmony? Sam Tsui, that's who...If you're an MJ fan, and you've never seen this, you're in for a real treat. Every time I listen to this, I hear a line of harmony that I didn't hear before....that's just how complex it is....SICK!

Now I've never been all that big of a John Mayer fan....but I heard this, and I was hooked....Just the melancholy feel of feeling that something's off....to have everything you need, but maybe not all of what you want....that's real....

Kashif was really one of the more underrated artists of his time. My mom used to have this album, and I would sneak it away from her every chance I had to listen to it. He never really got the credit he deserved from helping to define what would become the sound of 80's R&B. This track is from his 1983 self-titled debut album.

If you're into Jazz Fusion, check these guys out. They combine traditional Japanese musical elements with smooth jazz and funk. When I was little, I used to clown my mom for listening to "Japanese Jazz." Then I listened to it, and it had such a different flavor to it...a different feel....I automatically had this tape on rewind from then on....

And there you have it...I do hope that you've enjoyed this week's edition of Tanya's Picks...Hopefully I've introduced you to some new and interesting music that you may have never heard before. After all, that is the goal....

Until Next Time.....
