Throwback Thursday - Gregory Abbott

Do y'all remember this dude.

To me, he looked like a weird cross between Al Jarreau and David Hasselhoff....What a weird combination, but somehow, he manages to pull it off.  Those of us who were alive and listening to music in the mid-80's know how huge of a hit he had back then. That said, I personally hated the song....Nope, Nope....Didn't like it then, and don't like it now.....Strike #1 has always been that it sounded wayyy too much like Isley Jasper Isley's "Caravan of Love." Don't believe me, take a listen.....

Now you tell me they don't sound identical. Same chords and everything. You can practically sing one to the other. To me, "Caravan of Love" was the better song. In "Shake You Down", it sounded like he just ran out of words after a while....."Eenie, Meanie, Mine-e, Moe, Come On Girl, Let's Rock The Show." WHAT?? That's premier songwriting of the highest caliber right there...Anyways enjoy the trip back to 1986.....

Until Next Time......
